Escape

Life has been so incredibly busy of late, and shows no sign of slowing pace.

I am finding myself dreaming of faraway places and a nice long holiday to recharge my batteries.

I may not be there in body but this is where I am heading for a few days.

I am already feeling a little more relaxed just looking at those images.

Right before my very eyes...

This little girl of mine is growing oh so quickly.
I don't know the potty 2 days ago, and now this morning Lily had her first bath in the big bath in her seat.
She really enjoyed her bath. Recently I have noticed Lily is getting to big for her baby bath, and the seat that goes in it. During the past week or so Lily decided that she no longer wanted to lay down in the baby bath, and so she began trying to sit up in her seat, which really isn't designed for sitting in.

Lily enjoying her new seat.
The only thing I am not all that happy about is the extra water that is needed in the big bath compared to the small bath.
However each morning I empty the baby bath onto our lawn, so I will do the same in the big bath. The lawn certainly appreciates it.
On the topic of recycling water, not sure if anyone has tried it, but rather than pouring the water from steamed vegies down the drain, I wait for it to cool and water my potplants with it, the plants thrive on it! It must be the nutrients in the water from the vegetables.

Anyhow so now Lily has made the transition into the big bath, this precious first year with Lily is passing by far to quickly.

Here are some pictures from over the past week.

Potty, Potty

Lately it has become evident when Lily is doing number two's. The look of concerntration on her face, and the cute way she holds her hands nearly make me laugh each time.
However I restrain myself as I don't want to give the poor little girl a complex, where's the dignity in that!

However I thought perhaps once Lily showed these signs I could pop her on the potty. Shopping for a potty was quite a strange experience, that is one item until now I haven't actually thought about, and compared products ect to see which ones look the most comfortable and offer the most support.

Well after visiting 3 stores (yes 3!) I settled on the Classic Pooh potty. Out of all of the potty's on offer this one looked the best.
So last night Lily was playing and I thought she looked like she was getting that look on her face. So I took her nappy off and popped her on the potty. To begin with she cried, she didn't like it. So I gave her a little block to play with and tried to turn it into a little game. She was then happy to sit on there, and then...
Success!!! Miss Lily did her first poo on the potty! I was beyond excited and was calling out to Cameron and telling Lily how clever she was.
You should have seen the look on her face, I think she thought I had gone crazy, it was so funny.

Here is the clever little lady...
Honestly, how many people can carry off cute while sitting on the toilet!!!

Here is Lily and I having a cuddle last night, this little girl just melts my heart.
She is the sweetest, happiest little girl one could wish for.

It is quite clear by my red forehead, that I had just had my eyebrows waxed!

Today Lily and I will be spending the whole day at home, I am so happy. I cannot remember the last time I was home all day.
I have so much that I want to acheive and tick off my list.
I am not sure Lily will be quite so happy. She loves going out. Lately whenever you go near the front or back door, Lily starts shrieking with excitement, and the little arms start flapping.

Mothers Day

I hope all of the lovely Mothers had a wonderful day yesterday, and you were given a glimpse of just how much you are appreciated and treasured. There is no love like a Mother's love, and this special day is the perfect opportunity to show our Mum's just how important they are to us.

I am very lucky to share a close relationship with my Mum, she is a very special person and I would not be half the person I am without her love, support and guidance.
I have always said that if I can be half of the Mum to my children that Mum is to my brother and I, I will be over the moon.

I had a very enjoyable first Mothers Day. Of course made possible by my delectable daughter.

I was awoken at 7:00am to Miss Lily chatting away over the monitor, Cameron went and got Lily out of her cot and brought her into bed with me.
One of my favourite things would have to be listening to Cameron talking to Lily over the monitor, so, so sweet.

Lily gave me lots of cuddles in bed and we had a lovely little chat.

The morning was spent at home, I cooked a pasta dish to take to Mum's for lunch. We then had a lovely family lunch at Mum's with all the family.
A lovely relaxing way to spend the afternoon, and is usually the case with these gatherings it turned into dinner also.

Again not as many photo's as I would have liked were taken. I am a little sad that I didn't even get a photo with Mum, the day went so quickly.
Here is Lily in her new delectably soft, fluffy jacket.
As it got later in the afternoon, it got quite cool. So Lily and I retreated inside next to the fire. Lily loved watching to fire.
That is one thing I really miss from my childhood home, the wood fire.
I hope that in our next house we are able to have one, there is no warmth like that of a fireplace.
Lily feeling her gums, I think those teeth are giving her a bit of trouble, poor little poppet.

Now for a little reflection, this is how I looked on Mothers Day last year, 18 weeks pregnant with my little pink bundle. What an amazing year it has been!

Gosh they come around quickly!

Birthdays that is... Yesterday marked 23 years since I made my entrance into the world at 5:08 in the morning. (I have always been an earlybird!)

Usually May 3 is a wintry, gloomy day and sometimes ever rains. Not yesterday, it was a glorious day and the sun was out all day, it was lovely.

Yesterday didn't really feel like my birthday as we had celebrated the previous evening with a big family dinner. It was such a great night, I really enjoyed it. However poor Miss Lily was slightly overwhelmed with all of the people and attention. I think this photo sums up well how poor Lily was feeling.
The night flew by very quickly, as it does when you have it at home and do all of the cooking and catering yourself, I even baked my own birthday cake! Not that I mind in the slightest, I love having everyone over, I just wish the family managed to get together more often than just at birthday's. It is just so hard with everyone leading such full lives.

Very few photo's were taken, as I was just to busy to worry about the camera.

So my actual birthday was a lovely, quiet, relaxed affair. Mid morning Lily was asleep and I was sitting outside in the sunshine having a drink and eating toobs!

Nana rang to wish me a Happy Birthday and to ask if we wanted to go out for lunch. To be honest I was quite enjoying my relaxing day at home, so Nana and Papa came over and brought lunch with them.
It was lovely, we all sat outside under the pergola and basked in the sunshine.
Miss Lily also enjoyed eating outside, as evidenced by this big smile!

I love the way Nana is looking at Lily in this photo. Lily is named after my Nana, and they share a lovely bond that I love to see.
It was decided early on in my pregnancy that if we had a daughter she would be named after my Nana. Throughout my pregnancy I envisioned how we would tell Nana that her Great Grandaughter was named after her.
I pictured that the first time she came to visit Lily and was cradling her in her arms I would tell her that her name was Lily Lorraine.

Well unfortunately that didn't eventuate. I remember the moment well. We stood in the SCN peering at our newborn daughter through the glass of her humidicrib.

Nana had to buzz at the door to get permission to come into see us, her arms laden with bags of gifts and the most gorgeous pink teddy bear. When she walked towards our little spot in the SCN I could see the tears welling up in her eyes, I had to hold them back myself, at this stage I think I was still in shock.
Nana stood next to the crib admiring Lily from afar, it was then that I told her Lily was named after her, it was to much for her, and I, there we both stood crying, tears of joy, shock, worry and anxiety.
Earlier in the day, Lily enjoyed her morning bath, as she usually does. Now that the weather is cooling down somewhat I am reluctant to let Lily stay in the bath for very long, I have the heat lights on in the bathroom but I still don't like to let her get cool.
In the bath Lily loves to flap her arms and legs around, so I was quite surprised yesterday when I put the face washer over her body and she layed there like that, until I got her out!
To finish the day off we had a lovely quiet night at home, just the 3 of us.
Lily and I had such fun playing on the floor with her toys, chatting away.

Is this not the cutest little face you have ever seen???!!! How I will ever be able to say no to that face I don't know! So I think my 23rd birthday was the best birthday I have ever had, I am the happiest I have ever been, and that is largely thanks to my precious daughter Lily Lorraine.
